How to read a CQ Alpha score.
This walks through one score on CQDEMO, an obviously fictional ticker. The numbers are illustrative examples chosen to show how a real report reads — composite score, confidence, the nine factors, sources, and snapshot status. It is not a real security, not a recommendation, and not investment advice.
Composite model score
A 0–100 ranking of signal confluence across the nine factors — higher means more factors line up constructively. It is not a price target, a probability, or a promise of return.
How much reliable data backed this score. When a feed is missing, the affected factor neutralizes and confidence drops — a thinly-supported score can't masquerade as a strong one.
Blends 1-month, 3-month, and 6-month price returns into one trend reading.
Composite of profit margins, return on equity, and debt-to-equity.
Composite of valuation multiples relative to peers. Cheaper multiples read higher.
Composite of revenue growth and earnings-per-share growth.
The direction analysts are revising their earnings estimates.
no reliable estimate feed — neutralized
Combines historical volatility, drawdown depth, and beta deviation. Steadier reads higher.
Institutional ownership derived from SEC EDGAR 13F filings, or a bounded proxy.
Aggregated direction of news flow for a company.
Reads price relative to its moving averages and their structure.
- Momentum. Persistent 1–6 month uptrend — the strongest single read.
- Institutional Activity. Broad institutional ownership from 13F filings.
- Quality. Healthy margins and conservative leverage.
- Value. Richly priced versus peers — the lowest factor read.
- Earnings Revisions. No reliable estimate feed, so it neutralizes and lowers confidence.
Every factor carries its own source and an “as of” time. Freshness — fresh, cached, or degraded — is always visible, so you know how current each input is. Missing data is neutralized, never invented.
This score is stored as a point-in-time snapshot. What happens after each snapshot is measured later, across horizons. That forward-test record is still accumulating — it is not yet a performance claim.
Scores reflect data that can be delayed, revised, or wrong. The universe is a fixed list with selection bias. The model has no view on your goals, timeline, taxes, or risk tolerance.
